What is a CTE certified program?

A Career and Technical Education (CTE) program is a program that has met criteria specified by the South Dakota Department of Education and is therefore eligible for Perkins Funding.

What is Perkins Funding?
In short Perkins Funding helps give CTE certified programs funding to strengthen and expand their programs.  This includes professional development, classroom equipment, and curriculum development to name a few.  For more information follow click here.

How do your classes become part of a CTE certified program?
    1. Locate the correct application form for your career cluster (business management and administration, finance, information technology) marketing) on the middle of this page in the application forms by cluster table.

    2. Create a course syllabus for each course you plan on offering.

    3. Align you curriculum to meet the standards for each class.  You can find syllabus and standards for classes in each career cluster by clicking on one of the following links:
        a.   Business management and administration 
        b.   Finance
        c.   Information Technology
        d.  Marketing 

    4.  Create an advisory panel, for more information click here.

    5.  Pay attention to the dates found here.

    6.  Ask for help!
